Richard M. Lewis Jr., 71, passed away March 7, 2024 surrounded by his family at his residence. Rick was born to the late Richard Lewis Sr. and Dorothy (Nance) Lewis on August 24, 1952 in Fort Riley, Kansas.
Rick graduated from Warren Central High School in 1971. On July 30, 1977 Rick married Rebecca Sue Wolfe. Rick attended Lincoln Technical College where he studied auto mechanics. He worked for Peabody Coal Company, AP&S Clinic, Vigo County Synfuel, and Marion Tool and Die. He was a Past Master of the Clay Masonic Lodge #85. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute and Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, Indiana.
Rick enjoyed golfing, watching NASCAR races, the Indianapolis Colts, and IU Basketball. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and was very good at it. Although he didn’t get to do it very often, he enjoyed fishing whenever he had the chance. Most of all, Rick loved spending time with his family.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Lewis.
Rick is survived by his wife, Becky Lewis, two sons, Derrick Richard Lewis, and Troy Russel Lewis, siblings, Carl Lewis (Cheryl), Gail Grimes (Rick), David Lewis (and the late Linda), and Tom Lewis (Kim), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12th from 11-1 at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East 8th Street in Clay City. A Masonic Service will begin at 1 P.M. with the funeral service immediately following.
