No. 2 seeded Coco Gauff will advance to the final four at the French Open for the third time in four years, after defeating No. 7 seeded Madison Keys 6-7 (6), 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday in an all-American quarterfinal match. Keys had her first Grand Slam loss of the season, following her title run at the 2025 Australian Open.
Gauff dropped the opening set, but outlasted Keys on Wednesday at Roland-Garros. The 2-hour, 11-minute match saw Gauff hit 15 winners and one ace, while Keys finished with 25 winners, and 60 unforced errors. Gauff said during her post-match interview: “”I was just trying to get the ball deep and be aggressive, but it’s tough because she’s hitting the ball so fast and so low. I was just trying to fight for every point.
The 21-year-old Gauff also made history and became the youngest woman since Martina Hingis to reach 25 main-draw singles wins at the French Open.
Gauff will next take on French underdog Lois Boisson, ranked No. 361, who pulled off a stunning upset over No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva in her own quarterfinal, 7-6(6), 6-3. The winner of Thursday’s Gauff-Boisson semifinal will face either No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka or No. 5 Iga Swiatek—who also meet Thursday—in the championship match on Saturday.
Both women’s semifinals will be played Thursday on Court Philippe-Chatrier, with Gauff vs. Boisson and Swiatek vs. Sabalenka. Coverage begins at 9 a.m. EDT on TNT and Max.
